A five-member committee will investigate three petitions against the Chief Justice.
President John Dramani Mahama set up this committee. It will begin hearings on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
Supreme Court Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang chairs the committee. The formation follows Article 146(6) of the 1992 Constitution.
The President found a prima facie case after reviewing the petitions.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of Government Communications, issued a statement. He announced that the committee will meet three times a week.
The committee's job is to examine the petitions thoroughly. They will present their findings and recommendations to the President afterward.
Details of the petitions are not public yet. However, they have attracted national attention for their implications on judicial accountability.
