Committee to probe Chief Justice begins sitting today

The committee set up by President John Dramani Mahama begins today.

It will investigate three petitions against Chief Justice Gertrude Torkorno.

The five-member committee is chaired by Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang.

He is a Justice of the Supreme Court.

The President established the committee under Article 146 (6) of the 1992 Constitution.

This was done in consultation with the Council of State.

A prima facie case was determined against the Chief Justice.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Spokesperson and Minister of Government Communications, issued a statement in Accra yesterday.

The committee will meet three times each week.

They will present their recommendations to the President after completing their work.
