Communication Ministry investigates Cybersecurity breach affecting 5,700 MTN customers

The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations has launched an investigation.

This investigation concerns a cybersecurity breach affecting about 5,700 MTN Ghana customers.

The breach was reported on April 28. It has led to immediate collaboration with key regulatory bodies.

The Ministry is working with the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), the National Communications Authority (NCA), and the Data Protection Commission (DPC). They aim to assess the breach's scope and find vulnerabilities.

Authorities are also looking into whether MTN is responsible for this incident.

In a public advisory, the Ministry reassured customers that steps are being taken to protect their data. This is in compliance with Data Protection Laws. Affected individuals will receive direct contact with further instructions and support.

While investigations continue, the Ministry urges MTN customers to stay calm and vigilant. Updates will be shared as more information becomes available.

The government remains committed to protecting digital infrastructure. They aim to ensure accountability amid cybersecurity threats.
