The Minister for Communications, Sam George, has approved the dismissal of nearly 100 Ghana Post employees. He cited the need for efficiency and cost-cutting measures.
George emphasized that this decision was necessary and not arbitrary. It aims to streamline operations and improve financial sustainability at Ghana Post.
He noted that many staff were hired after the December 7 general elections. Currently, there are about six hundred employees under the Ministry of Communication.
This action aligns with President John Dramani Mahama's directive to manage resources wisely. George announced the dismissals during an interview on Accra 100.5 FM on March 25, 2025.
He argued that these dismissals are essential for the company's survival. This move is part of broader reforms to enhance Ghana Post's efficiency.
