Professor Kwadwo Appiagyei-Atua, a law lecturer at the University of Ghana, criticized “political equalization” in discussions about corruption. He believes this trend distracts from accountability and governance issues.
On TV3’s The Keypoints with Alfred Ocansey, he addressed comparisons between past and current corruption cases. He mentioned the Cecilia Dapaah incident, where large sums of money were found in her bedroom. Although she was eventually cleared, he argued that this narrative is misleading.
Prof. Appiagyei-Atua stated that such comparisons aim to favor one political party over another. He questioned the government's control during these scandals.
He described the situation as state capture. He noted that those who financed the party influenced laws and decisions.
The professor emphasized that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) cannot avoid responsibility for state capture and scandals. He said, “The NPP cannot dissociate itself completely.”
