Compassion over Wealth: Seidu Agongo uplifts lives with GHS500,000 lifeline to dialysis patients

In a world where wealth often defines power, Alhaji Seidu Agongo stands out. He is a Ghanaian businessman and philanthropist. His path is paved with compassion and empathy.

Recently, in Accra, he made a significant gesture at the Ministry of Health. Alhaji Agongo pledged GHS500,000 to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund. This fund helps many Ghanaians facing high dialysis treatment costs.

His donation represents more than charity; it shows solidarity with those suffering. “This program touches the very foundation of the Ghanaian people,” he said. In Ghana, one dialysis session can cost up to GHS700.

Patients often need three sessions weekly, making survival difficult for many families. That totals over GHS8,000 monthly—an unattainable amount for most households. “In a developing country where food is scarce, this is a significant strain,” he noted.

Mr. Agongo operates a dialysis center and understands health's importance. “Health is not just personal; it’s vital for our nation’s future,” he explained. He believes everyone needs access to proper healthcare.

This isn’t his first act of kindness; he has helped others before. His donation was not for recognition but reflects his belief in giving back. True wealth lies in how much we give, not what we keep.

He thanked the Minister of Health and honored former President John Dramani Mahama. The Medical Trust Fund was established under Mahama’s leadership and is now known as Mahama Cares. “This is for the citizens of Ghana,” he stated sincerely.

The Minister of Health expressed deep gratitude to ALIVE Industries. He emphasized that this gesture goes beyond corporate social responsibility; it shows national solidarity.

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund aims to ease burdens faced by those needing long-term treatments like dialysis. For many patients, this support can mean life or death. Thanks to Alhaji Agongo's kindness, hope has returned to many homes.

The government encourages individuals and institutions to contribute with both funds and compassion. Ultimately, it’s not gold that sustains people—it’s grace. Seidu Agongo reminds us all what it means to truly care.
