The suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has sparked public debate. Legal experts are urging a careful response. They stress the need for due process and constitutional order.
Alex Gyamfi, a legal practitioner, spoke on Asaase Radio. He echoed the views of Saviour Kudze from the Ghana Bar Association. Gyamfi believes all Ghanaians should pay attention but remain restrained.
“Everyone must be interested in what is happening,” he said. He added that if anyone feels due process is compromised, they can seek court protection. A fair process allows the accused to be heard before any judgment.
“It’s essential that due process works,” he emphasized. “If someone is condemned without being heard, then nothing happened.”
Kudze also appeared on the Asaase Breakfast Show. He called for respect during the ongoing proceedings. He warned against premature judgments from some legal professionals and political figures.
“It’s unfair to be judgmental at this stage,” Kudze stated. “We should let the process reach its logical conclusion.”
