Confidentiality is key – MP warns against politicisation of Chief Justice’s case

Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has concerns about a petition. This petition seeks the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo.

He believes publicizing it could harm the judiciary's integrity. It may also raise doubts about its impartiality.

On JoyNews' Newsfile programme, he criticized the Presidency's handling of the issue. He warned it could lead to political interference.

"This constitutional process needs confidentiality, especially in early stages," he said. Making it public now risks politicizing the matter and undermining judicial impartiality.

He expressed further worries about exposing such processes too soon. "The integrity of our judiciary is at stake," he stated.

Awuah emphasized the need to avoid perceptions that judges can be targeted politically.
