The Constitution Review Committee (CRC) is in its third month of public consultations. They are gathering input from various stakeholders to review Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.
Prof. Henry Kwasi Prempeh, the committee chairman, shared updates on Facebook. The 8-member committee has conducted 12 thematic engagements so far. They have also held 5 interest group meetings and 8 consultations with eminent persons.
These discussions cover important topics like Land and Natural Resources, Local Government, and Public Services. Other areas include The Judiciary, Executive, Legislature, Rights, Gender, Youth, Public Finance, Economic Governance, and Anti-Corruption Measures. Discussions on Chieftaincy and Citizenship are still pending.
The CRC has engaged groups such as business organizations, academia, and security services. They plan to meet traditional authorities and religious leaders soon.
High-profile discussions have included former Presidents John Dramani Mahama and J.A. Kufuor. Other notable figures include Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin and former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo. More engagements with other prominent personalities are expected soon.
The CRC will hold zonal public hearings across the country in various cities. These cities include Accra, Wa, Bolgatanga, Tamale, Sunyani, Kumasi, Koforidua, Cape Coast, Takoradi, and Ho. An online engagement with the Ghanaian diaspora is also planned.
On Monday, May 19, 2025 at 7:00 PM, the committee will host a discussion on X (Twitter). This session will be moderated by Kaly Jay to engage the public further.

Prof. Prempeh emphasized their commitment to transparency and participation. He urged all Ghanaians to help shape the future of governance in the nation.
