Court adjourns case against soldiers accused of assaulting civilians

The Suame District Court has postponed a case involving seven military personnel. This group includes senior officers and a driver. They are accused of assaulting three civilians, two of whom died later.

The victims were Kwame Adu (also known as Ogee), Kwabena Sarfo, and Christian Obiri Yeboah (popularly called Kofi Yesu). They were arrested by military officers on March 28, 2025. The officers allegedly took them to the 4th Infantry Battalion barracks in Kumasi.

At the barracks, the victims reportedly faced severe beatings. This was after accusations of stealing an iPhone from a civilian. Tragically, two of the victims later died from their injuries.

Police received tips about the bodies' location and retrieved them. The case has experienced delays due to the presiding judge being on leave since April 2025.
