An Accra High Court has adjourned the case of two South Africans and a Nigerian arrested for allegedly possessing over 16 kilogrammes of suspected methamphetamine.

The prosecution, led by Assistant State Attorney Frederick Adu Gyamfi, informed the court that they were awaiting an analytical report from the Ghana Standards Authority on the seized substances.

The court was urged to remand the accused into the custody of the Narcotics Control Commission.

Defence counsel opposed continued detention, arguing the suspects had been in custody for over a month without trial.

The presiding judge, Justice Kizita Koowa Quarshie, directed the defence to formally file for bail.

The accused were arrested at Kotoka International Airport on January 20, 2025. The case resumes on March 11, 2025.
