The Ministry of Roads and Highways has blamed ongoing legal battles for the stalled completion of the $350 million Ofankor-Nsawam road project, initially set for July 2024.

According to the Ministry’s PRO, Nasir Ahmad Yartey, over 100 court cases—mostly from property owners disputing demolitions and compensation—have delayed progress.

While 20 cases have been resolved, about 80 remain, preventing contractors from accessing key sections of the road.

The project, crucial for easing congestion on the Accra-Kumasi highway, remains in limbo, frustrating daily commuters.

Many are urging the government to fast-track legal resolutions to prevent further setbacks.
