The Court of Appeal has set Thursday, January 30, 2025, to decide on the prosecution’s appeal against the High Court’s order requiring investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas to unmask in front of Kwasi Nyantakyi before testifying.
The three-judge panel, led by Justice Anthony Oppong, adjourned the matter after receiving written submissions from both parties on December 16, 2024.
This legal battle stems from a May 17, 2023, ruling by the High Court, which directed Anas to unmask in chambers before testifying while masked.
Anas, the prosecution’s key witness in the case involving Nyantakyi and Abdulai Alhassan, has refused to comply, leading to a stalled trial.
State prosecutors have since appealed, leaving the case in limbo. The Court of Appeal’s decision could determine the future of the trial.
