Court orders AG to file witness statements in Adu-Boahene trial by May 20

An Accra High Court has ordered the Attorney General’s office to submit all witness statements. This is for the ongoing trial of Kwabena Adu-Boahene, former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB). The deadline for submission is May 20, 2025.

Justice John Eugene Nyadu Nyante presided over the case. He urged the prosecution to speed up the trial. He expressed concerns about the personal liberties of Mr. Adu-Boahene.

Both Mr. Adu-Boahene and his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, are out on bail. They are facing charges related to a GHS 49 million corruption scandal. The next court date is set for May 26.

In April, Attorney General Dominic Ayine formally charged them with multiple offenses. These include stealing, money laundering, and defrauding by false pretences.

Mr. Adu-Boahene is accused of conspiring with others to divert funds meant for national security contracts. This includes Mildred Donkor and Advantage Solutions Limited.

Prosecutors claim he signed a $7 million contract with ISC Holdings Limited for cyber defense software. Instead of using the funds as intended, he allegedly transferred about GHS 49 million into personal accounts under false pretenses.

On May 2, the court ordered Mr. Adu-Boahene to be held in custody by EOCO for seven working days. This was to allow time for finalizing witness statements by the Attorney General's office.
