The Human Rights Court has postponed proceedings until June 18, 2025. This is regarding a motion from former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. He wants to stop the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) from calling him "wanted" or a "fugitive from justice."
Mr. Ofori-Atta filed this legal action on March 27. He aims to prevent the OSP from labeling him in such ways. He argues that the OSP has violated administrative justice principles by displaying his photo and details online.
His legal team claims this contradicts an assurance from February 18, 2025. In that letter, the OSP allegedly promised not to make public declarations about him. The motion seeks to remove Mr. Ofori-Atta’s name from the OSP's wanted list.
He also requests a court order against future publications without judicial approval. Additionally, he wants an injunction to stop the OSP from calling him a "fugitive." His team argues these actions violate his human rights under the 1992 Constitution.
The OSP has not yet publicly responded to these allegations. They are actively contesting the motion in court. The ruling will be delivered on June 18, 2025.
If Mr. Ofori-Atta misses a June 2 deadline, he may be declared wanted by the OSP.
