Criticism from within the party hurt NPP’s 2024 Campaign – Bawumia

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate. He believes internal divisions caused the party's defeat in the recent elections.

On Saturday, April 26, he launched his national Thank You Tour in Takoradi. During this event, he discussed the challenges faced by the NPP during the election cycle. He emphasized that unity is essential for success.

Dr. Bawumia noted that internal issues weakened their campaign efforts. He stated, “Unity is key in every group endeavour.” He explained that public criticisms from party members were exploited by the opposition.

He mentioned that comments made by NPP members were used against them by the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The NDC created media adverts featuring these remarks to undermine the NPP.

Reflecting on this internal discord, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged its significant impact. He said, “When the attack is coming from within, it has a far-reaching effect.” He highlighted how damaging these divisions were to their electoral performance.
