During his address to the Muslim community after Eid-Ul-Fitr prayers in Accra, he emphasized the issue. He noted that ignoring planning regulations worsens environmental safety. This negligence contributes to severe floods affecting many communities.

President Mahama also mentioned collusion between private businesses and some chiefs. They are converting water retention areas and Ramsar Sites into developed zones.
