DCE nominee for Ada East Kenneth Kabu Kanor rejected

President John Dramani Mahama’s nominee for the District Chief Executive (DCE) in Ada East has been rejected.

Kenneth Kabu Kanor received 24 "Yes" votes, which is 63.2%. He also got 13 "No" votes, making up 34.2%. One ballot was rejected, accounting for 2.6%. This result means the assembly has rejected his nomination.

On Thursday, three Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs) were endorsed in Ashaiman, Kpone Katamanso, and Tema West. Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo spoke about the situation. She said rejecting nominees will delay development in the district.

Ocloo emphasized that efforts would be made to ensure representation in Ada East. She warned that delaying confirmation affects recruitment and development processes.

She stated, “If you delay the confirmation, you delay development and recruitment.” Ocloo noted that many recruitments are already underway. If the DCE is not confirmed, other channels must handle employment processes.

She urged assembly members to reconsider their actions. “If you think you are part of those shortlisted and work against the nominee,” she said, “you are looking outside the box.”
