DHL to suspend global shipments of over $800 to US consumers

DHL Express, part of Germany’s Deutsche Post, is making changes.

Starting April 21, they will suspend global shipments over $800 to individuals in the U.S. This decision comes due to new U.S. customs rules that have delayed clearance times.

The company’s website did not provide a date for this notice. However, metadata indicates it was compiled on Saturday.

DHL explained that formal entry processing is now required for all shipments over $800. Previously, the minimum was $2,500 until the change on April 5.

Business-to-business shipments will continue but may experience delays. Shipments under $800 to businesses or consumers are unaffected.

DHL stated this suspension is a temporary measure. Last week, they confirmed they would still process shipments from Hong Kong to the U.S., following customs regulations.

They plan to assist customers in adapting to upcoming changes effective May 2. This announcement followed Hong Kong Post's suspension of mail services for sea goods sent to the U.S.

Hong Kong Post accused the U.S. of "bullying" after tariff-free trade provisions were canceled for packages from China and Hong Kong.
