DJ Awana’s one-week celebration [Photos]

Family, friends, and supporters gathered to honor DJ Awana. This was for his one-week observation after his passing. Samuel Tei Mensah Nartey, known as DJ Awana, was a veteran Ghanaian disc jockey.

The ceremony took place at Aggrey Road School Park in Tema Community 2. It is near the old Adom FM station.

Many mourners attended, including colleagues from Multimedia Group. Players from the creative arts industry also came to support the family.

Notable attendees included Ken Ansah, COO of MGL. Former Adom FM Programmes Manager Daddy Bosco was present too. Other attendees were Abdulai Awudu and Fiifi Koomson, both general managers at Adom Brands and Joy Brands respectively.

Joshua Tigo and Philip Osei Bonsu also attended along with many presenters and staff members.

Gospel legends Mary Ghansah and Celestine Donkor performed uplifting songs. Their performances touched everyone present at the ceremony.

Celestine Donkor and her husband donated GH₵500 to DJ Awana's family. They pledged to support his children through university education, which moved many attendees.

Colleagues from Multimedia Group contributed GH₵4,000 and 20 packs of bottled water to the bereaved family.

DJ Awana passed away on April 6, 2025, at age 47. He died after a short illness at the 37 Military Hospital.

The family announced that he will be laid to rest on September 27, 2025. The burial will take place at Prampram Cemetery. Further details about the funeral venue will be shared later.
