The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) plans to open six offices outside Ghana. This initiative aims to reduce the use of fake licenses by Ghanaians abroad. The announcement was made during the opening of a new DVLA office in Adentan on May 7, 2025.
The Adentan office will operate 24 hours a day. It will provide all DVLA services, including driver licensing and vehicle registration.
Julius Neequaye Kotey, the CEO of DVLA, spoke at the event. He mentioned that the pilot phase will start in countries like Germany and Canada.
Kotey said, “We are going to open six new stations outside Ghana.” He added that they have approached several embassies for support. Countries involved include Germany, UK, USA, Canada, Dubai, and South Africa.
Joseph Bukari Nikpe, the Minister for Transport, also spoke at the ceremony. He urged the DVLA to improve its service delivery. “They must ensure every vehicle on our roads is roadworthy,” he stated.
Nikpe emphasized that the DVLA should register every vehicle effectively. He called for quality service for all people in Ghana.
