Daasebre Osei Bonsu II passes on at 86

Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, the occupant of the Silver Stool, has died. He reigned for 26 years as the Paramount Chief of Mampong in the Ashanti Region.

The Mampong Traditional Council and Bretuo Dynasty announced his death. They informed the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at Manhyia Palace on Monday.

A delegation led by Mamponghemaa, Nana Agyakoma Dufie II, made this announcement. They fulfilled a sacred cultural obligation at Manhyia Palace. This marked the end of a distinguished traditional leadership.

Daasebre was 86 years old at the time of his passing. He served as Vice President of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs. He held a prestigious position as second-in-command in the Asante Kingdom’s hierarchy.
