Dafeamekpor sues Ntim Fordjour for defamation

Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, MP for South Dayi, has filed a defamation lawsuit. He is suing Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South. The lawsuit stems from a social media post that harmed his reputation.

On May 8, 2025, Rev. Fordjour posted on X (formerly Twitter). He alleged that Mr. Dafeamekpor acted as Vice Chairman of the Committee on Subsidiary Legislation. This was during a time when Kwabena Adu-Boahene allegedly paid GH¢360,000 to the committee.

Adu-Boahene is facing claims of misappropriating GH¢49.1 million. He stated that allowances were paid to MPs during the passage of related legislation. In his post, Rev. Fordjour called for an investigation into Mr. Dafeamekpor and others.

Mr. Dafeamekpor responded by filing a statement of claim. He denied the allegations and called the post “false, malicious, and defamatory.” The lawsuit states he suffered economic harm and emotional distress due to these statements.

He claims the statements were made with malice to portray him as corrupt. Mr. Dafeamekpor seeks a retraction and public apology from Rev. Fordjour. He also wants an injunction to prevent further defamatory statements while the case is ongoing.

The case is linked to ongoing legal proceedings against Kwabena Adu-Boahene for stealing and money laundering charges. The matter has been adjourned until May 26 for a case management conference.
