Dafeamekpor sues Ntim Fordjour for defamation over bribery allegation

Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, the MP for South Dayi, has filed a lawsuit. He is suing Assin South MP Reverend John Ntim Fordjour for defamation.

Dafeamekpor claims that a social media post harmed his reputation and integrity. The lawsuit was filed in the High Court. It relates to a post made on May 8, 2025, on “X,” formerly Twitter.

In this post, Rev Fordjour accused Dafeamekpor of needing to explain alleged payments. He also suggested an investigation was necessary. Additionally, he claimed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) benefited from these payments while in opposition.

Dafeamekpor denies these allegations. He states he was not a member of the Subsidiary Legislation Committee in December 2023 when the incident supposedly occurred.

He argues that Fordjour's statements are "false and malicious." Dafeamekpor believes they were made without regard for the truth.

The South Dayi MP seeks a declaration that these statements are defamatory. He wants several remedies, including an injunction against further publications by Rev Fordjour.

He also demands a retraction and public apology in print and on social media. Furthermore, he is seeking damages exceeding GH₵30 million.

In his suit, Dafeamekpor claims the defamatory content caused serious harm to his character. He cites economic losses and public ridicule as additional consequences.

He argues that these statements were intended to undermine public trust. Since they are stored online permanently, they have amplified reputational damage.

The Majority Chief Whip is also asking for aggravated, punitive, and compensatory damages. He requests legal costs and any other relief deemed appropriate by the court.
