Datamaker inspires Artificial Intelligence careers at Presec

Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School, Legon (PRESEC) recently hosted an innovative training program. This program focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Annotation. It was organized by Datamaker Ghana Limited.

The initiative aims to equip young Ghanaians with essential technology skills. The week-long program began in April and is part of a larger strategy by Datamaker. They want to bridge the gap between education and emerging technologies.

This training is in partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). It falls under a five-year Inclusive Business Solution Program from 2021 to 2025. The goal is to promote equitable education and sustainable economic growth.

The training module inspired creativity, critical thinking, and curiosity among students. Participants received hands-on exposure to AI fundamentals like machine learning and robotics. They also learned about data annotation for AI models and ethical implications of AI technologies.

Minhong Kim, MD of Datamaker Ghana Limited, emphasized the importance of AI skills. “AI is not just the future; it’s the now,” he stated. The program aimed to empower youth for tomorrow’s digital economy.

Students engaged in interactive workshops led by engineers and AI specialists. They worked on practical tools like chatbot development and image recognition demos. This approach made complex concepts accessible and engaging.

Educational leaders at PRESEC welcomed this initiative. They noted its positive impact on student motivation and career awareness. PRESEC has a fully equipped AI lab on campus, enhancing the learning experience.

Students expressed enthusiasm for tech-focused careers after the training. Emmanuel Aforo, a Form 3 student, said, “This experience changed how I see computers.” He now aspires to become an AI engineer.

Datamaker Ghana Limited is committed to building a strong AI ecosystem in Ghana. By partnering with local institutions, they aim to improve AI literacy among youth. This prepares them for future workforce demands.

Initiatives like this signal a bright future for young innovators in Ghana. Schools like PRESEC are nurturing the next generation of data scientists and tech leaders. Young Ghanaians are encouraged to apply for Datamaker-KOICA IBS ICT Training Scholarships.
