David Ofosu-Dorte challenges VRA to ignite Ghana’s industrial future

David Ofosu-Dorte is the Executive Chairman of AB & David Law. He has challenged the Volta River Authority (VRA) to lead Ghana's industrial future.

He urged VRA to take bold steps in transforming the economy through energy.

Ofosu-Dorte spoke at VRA’s 64th anniversary on April 25, 2025. He called for a 20-gigawatt base load energy plan. This plan would support Ghana’s long-term industrialization goals.

“It may take over a decade to achieve,” he said. “But someone must start dreaming and planning it.”

His challenge extends beyond VRA to all institutions focused on national progress.

“That is how organizations can help policymakers transform the economy,” he stated.

He encouraged VRA to align its power roadmap with the government’s Big Push agenda. This initiative aims to accelerate infrastructure and industrial development.

His remarks highlight a need for Ghana to move from small policy changes to bold actions. The power sector is crucial for economic growth, job creation, and manufacturing competitiveness.
