Deadly blaze at Madina Redco wipes out 150 structures, claims one life

A fierce fire tore through Madina Redco Flats late last night. The blaze destroyed over 150 structures and claimed a young woman's life.

The fire started at 11:15 p.m. It engulfed 140 wooden structures and 20 metal containers. These were used for residential and commercial purposes.

Firefighters from Madina Fire Station arrived within two minutes. They received backup from Adenta, Legon, Abelemkpe, and Headquarters. Despite their quick response, the fire was already advanced.

The teams managed to confine the flames by 12:02 a.m. They fully extinguished the fire by 2:22 a.m. Tragically, a Nigerian woman named Beauty lost her life in the inferno.

She was believed to be in her early twenties. Her charred remains have been handed over to Madina Police for preservation. Authorities are assessing the destruction and investigating the cause of the fire.

Affected residents and business owners are counting their losses in Madina.
