The Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, opened the 2025 Africa Land Forces Summit in Accra. He emphasized global cooperation to tackle modern security threats.
He announced this on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, April 8. He highlighted the event's significance and acknowledged key stakeholders present.
The summit took place at the Kempinski Hotel. It welcomed Army Chiefs from 50 nations, including 40 African countries. They discussed pressing issues like cyber threats, violent extremism, and terrorism.
Dr. Boamah spoke on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama after a ceremonial change of guard at Jubilee House. He stated that the summit is a platform for dialogue and collaboration among global security partners.
He stressed the importance of information sharing and joint counter-terrorism efforts. These actions help safeguard international peace and stability.
Dr. Boamah noted that such engagements strengthen national armed forces' capabilities. They also enhance operational efficiency across allied institutions.
The event featured US Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Evelyn Palmer. She delivered a speech on behalf of the US Government, praising the summit's objectives.
Dr. Boamah thanked the US for its support. He recognized distinguished guests including members of the diplomatic corps and Ghanaian service chiefs.
