Defence Minister accuses NPP gov't of neglecting Presidential jet

Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah criticized the previous NPP administration. He accused it of neglecting Ghana's Presidential jet, leaving it in poor condition.

Dr. Boamah addressed concerns about the aircraft's state. He reminded the NPP of its poor management while it was with the Ghana Armed Forces. "The Akufo-Addo administration ran down the Presidential jet," he stated.

His comments followed a Facebook post by NPP MP Vincent Assifuah. The MP noted that Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang returned from London on a chartered flight. The flight details included Vista Jet 836, which landed in Accra at 15:40 GMT.

Dr. Boamah revealed that Ghana's aircraft is undergoing major maintenance overseas. He mentioned that its fuel tank is corroded and that the jet is grounded for repairs.

He explained that the aircraft will need three months of maintenance to be usable again. Dr. Boamah emphasized that it is currently unfit for use due to neglect by the previous government.
