Defence Minister commends Erastus Asare Donkor for anti-galamsey reporting

Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, praised journalist Erastus Asare Donkor. Donkor works with Luv FM in the Ashanti Region. He has exposed illegal mining activities known as galamsey.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Dr. Boamah prayed for Donkor's protection and strength. His investigative reports highlight the severe impact of illegal mining on Ghana’s environment. “May God bless Erastus Asare Donkor for his work against galamsey,” he wrote.

The Minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to fight this issue. He warned individuals and groups involved in illegal mining. “No enemy of the state destroying our resources will be spared,” he declared.

Dr. Boamah emphasized that they will win this battle against illegal mining. He stated they would use necessary force if required.

The government is intensifying efforts to curb illegal mining activities. These activities have destroyed farmlands, forests, and water bodies across Ghana.
