Defence Minister donates food Items to GAF; hopeful it'll boost morale of the troops

Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah donated food items to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). This donation recognizes their service and sacrifices.

The donation occurred on Thursday, March 27. It included 5,000 bags of rice, 6,255 bottles of cooking oil, 4,800 tins of mackerel, and 4,800 tins of tomatoes.

On Facebook, Dr. Boamah expressed hope that the donation would boost troop morale. He thanked entrepreneur Ibrahim Mahama from Dzata Cement for his support.

"This gesture appreciates our women and men in uniform," he stated. He hopes it will uplift the troops' spirits.

Dr. Boamah also noted that Parliament approved the Ministry of Defence’s budget. He called this approval a crucial step for addressing financial challenges in the Armed Forces.

The approved budget exceeds GH¢6 billion. It will help clear an outstanding GH¢275 million debt to food suppliers accumulated over 17 months.

Additionally, Dr. Boamah reiterated the government's commitment to food security for the Armed Forces. They plan to adopt mechanised farming to reduce costs and curb inflation.

"We're solving problems," Dr. Boamah emphasized. "We shall remind Ghanaians not to forget!"
