Defence Minister engages retired officers on welfare issues

The Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, met with the Executives of the Retired Commission Officers Association (RCOA).

This meeting reaffirmed the government's commitment to improving retired military personnel's welfare.

It was part of a series of strategic meetings held on April 5. The focus was on addressing national concerns, including veterans' support.

In a Facebook post, Dr. Boamah called the meeting “another important visit.” He emphasized that those who served in uniform should not be forgotten.

He stated, “We also had another important visit from RCOA executives.” The discussions covered critical issues facing retired officers.

Topics included access to healthcare, pensions, and recognition of their service.

Dr. Boamah appreciated the open exchanges during the meeting. He pledged that the Ministry would take actionable steps to address these concerns.

He reiterated that retired personnel's welfare is a top priority for the Defence Ministry.

Ensuring dignity and decent living conditions for veterans is essential. It is both a moral obligation and vital for building a strong armed force.
