The Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, praised the new leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces. He called their appointment a key step for national security. This is especially important in today's changing global landscape.
Dr. Boamah spoke on Sunday, May 11, at an induction service. The event took place at the Church of Pentecost in Burma Camp.
The ceremony officially inducted several leaders into office. This included the Chief of Defence Staff and three Service Commanders.
Dr. Boamah commended their competence and integrity. He expressed confidence in their ability to lead effectively in a complex world.
He stated, “Your appointments are well-deserved and a call to duty.”
The Minister congratulated Lieutenant General William Agyapong and other new leaders. This includes Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu and Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing.
He also recognized Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frimpong and Air Vice Marshal Joshua Lartei Mensah-Larkai as part of the new command.
The Defence Minister acknowledged key officials present at the event. Apostle Eric Nyamekye delivered an inspiring sermon during the ceremony.
He also appreciated the attendance of Muntaka Mubarak and Deputy Defence Minister Brogya Gyamfi. Other dignitaries included IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
Overall, the event was described as prayerful, solemn, and unifying.
