Delay Free SHS bill for broader engagement – EduWatch advises Parliament

Education think tank Africa Education Watch (EduWatch) has urged Parliament to delay the introduction of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) Bill, set for December 16, 2024, until thorough consultations with key stakeholders are conducted.

In a statement issued on December 13, EduWatch highlighted concerns about the lack of stakeholder engagement in the process.

The organization stressed the need for inclusivity and transparency in policy formulation, urging the Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, to facilitate discussions with education experts, civil society groups, and parent-teacher associations.

EduWatch believes these consultations are crucial to addressing potential issues with the policy and securing broad national support for the Free SHS initiative.
