The Association of Vice Chancellors Ghana has raised concerns over the delayed release of the 2024 WASSCE results, warning of significant disruptions to university academic calendars.
Executive Secretary Dr. Sena Kpeglo-Freiku revealed that universities had planned to admit first-year students by mid-January.
However, the delays, caused in part by the government’s debt to WAEC, have pushed timelines back.
Despite the government paying GH₵85 million out of the GH₵118 million owed to WAEC, the uncertainty persists.
The Ministry of Education expects results by December 29, but Dr. Kpeglo-Freiku stressed the importance of a clear timeline to help universities adjust their admission and academic schedules.
“This uncertainty is unsustainable and causes anxiety for students, parents, and universities alike,” she added.
