Deliver or step aside - Mahama warns Ministers

President John Dramani Mahama has warned his ministers about non-performance. He emphasized the need for results that meet Ghanaians' expectations.

He spoke on Thursday, April 24, 2025, during a four-day Executive Leadership Programme for ministers.

President Mahama reminded them of their responsibility to the electorate. Voters chose them for a change in leadership.

“You were not appointed to occupy space,” he said. “You were appointed to solve problems.”

He stressed that Ghanaians expect delivery without excuses. “We must deliver results,” he added.

The President described the program as a chance to reshape governance. He urged participants to abandon ineffective methods.

“The business-as-usual approach will not work,” he stated. “It is dead and must be buried.”

He noted that this event is more than just orientation. It aims to build a shared vision of accountable leadership.

“We’re here to shape a collective mindset,” he explained.

President Mahama highlighted the high expectations from citizens, especially youth and farmers. Many have waited too long for meaningful change.

“Our young people are tired of waiting,” he said. “They want dignity and prosperity.”

He warned ministers about the urgency of their roles. He will act against any appointee who falls short.

“Remember, if any of us fall short, I will not hesitate to act,” he stated.

The retreat is in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme. It is the first under this administration and includes ministers and development partners.
