NCCE Chairperson, Ms. Kathleen Addy, has urged Ghanaians to hold political leaders accountable beyond elections, emphasizing it as both a constitutional right and civic duty.
Speaking at Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Ayawaso West Municipality, she highlighted the importance of citizen engagement in ensuring transparency, reducing corruption, and fostering community development through local assemblies.
Ms. Addy encouraged Ghanaians to stay informed, actively participate in governance, and avoid harmful practices like election monetization, misinformation, and violence.
She noted that while Ghana’s electoral complaints mirror those of advanced nations, active citizen involvement is vital for a thriving democracy.
The NCCE plans more outreach programs, especially in rural areas, to educate citizens on their governance role ahead of upcoming elections.
