Residents and users of the Denchembuoso-Techiman road in Kwadaso Municipality are frustrated. They urge the government to fix their deteriorating roads urgently. The conditions have worsened over time, especially during the rainy season.
Community members face severe dust pollution from an abandoned road project. Contractors left the site, leaving residents to deal with the consequences. The Denchembuoso-Techiman road connects several communities, including Atwima Boko and Trabuom.
This road was upgraded in 2019 but remains incomplete. It is part of a larger 16.2-kilometre project awarded to Asabea Engineering Limited. Unfortunately, work has stalled for years.
Residents say the poor road conditions affect their daily lives and businesses. "The dust is affecting our lives here," said Nana Yaa Kyerewaa, a business owner. Another resident, Akosua Bonsu, expressed frustration about being left behind by the contractor.
Drivers also share their concerns about the road's state. Tony Bekumah, a driver, mentioned frequent visits to mechanics due to damage caused by potholes. Commuters like Isaac Donkor noted that travel times have increased significantly because of the poor conditions.
David Asare, the Assembly Member for the area, echoed these frustrations and called for government intervention. Nana Afriyei Takyi, Odikro of Atwima Techiman, emphasized that good roads are essential for attracting investors and boosting local development.
He stated that without proper roads, businesses cannot thrive in their community. Chiefs in the area are urging government action on this pressing issue as they seek better infrastructure for their residents.
