Denmark invests GHc1m to improve water access in northern Ghana

The Danish government has announced a major investment of one million cedis. This funding aims to improve access to safe water in Northern Ghana. It is expected to benefit over ten thousand Ghanaians.

Danish Ambassador to Ghana, Tom Nørring, shared this news at a meeting. The meeting included representatives from Ghana Water Limited and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in Accra.

Many communities in Northern Ghana struggle with clean water access. Residents face polluted sources, poor infrastructure, and long distances to fetch water. However, Denmark's commitment brings hope on World Water Day.

Ambassador Nørring stated, “We’re partnering with the government of Ghana.” He mentioned that they will focus on Bolgatanga and Wa. This initiative is part of Denmark's strategy for water solutions in Africa.

Danish company Alumichem will support the project. They are known for sustainable solutions for polluted water bodies. Nørring noted their past collaboration with local authorities in Ghana.

The Ambassador also mentioned contributions from other European Union partners. He emphasized that this mission involves more than just Denmark. Other EU member countries will join this initiative.

The Danish government supports global water projects actively. Their focus is on improving water management and access, especially in Africa. They aim to double the export of Danish water technology by 2030.

Access to clean water is vital for health and economic development. This initiative offers hope for thousands in Northern Ghana. With Denmark's support and international collaboration, clean water access can become a reality for many underserved communities.
