The Deputy Minister of Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has inaugurated a new NLA Governing Board. This event took place under Section 36 of the National Lotto Act, 2006 (Act 722). The Minister of Finance, Hon Cassiel Ato Forson, appointed the seven-member board.
Mr. Frederick Amissah is the Chairman of the board. He is a Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Finance. Amissah is an economist with extensive experience in policy analysis and risk management.
Other members include Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Salam, Director General of NLA. Mr. Edward Abrokwah represents the Revenue Policy Division at the Ministry of Finance. Ms. Doreen Panyin Annan represents the Ministry of Interior.
Additionally, Mrs. Helen Akpene Awo Ziwu is from the Office of the Attorney General. Faustina Elikplim Akurugu is a Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya. Mr. Gerald Baffour Awuah Bonsu is the President’s nominee on the Board.
After administering Oaths of Office and Secrecy, Deputy Minister Ampem spoke to the Board. He highlighted their important role in generating revenue for Ghana's development needs. He urged them to support government efforts in line with their mandate.
Ampem also encouraged increased competition within NLA's operations to create jobs and raise revenue.
Chairman Frederick Amissah thanked President Mahama and Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson for their appointments. He assured that the Board would work with integrity and diligence to boost revenue.
Amissah stated they aim to establish partnerships with key stakeholders and build a world-class lottery industry. The Board will also focus on enhancing staff welfare and ensuring harmony among industry players.
