Deputy IGP accused of ordering officers to defy transfer directives

Sergeant David Ojeyim of the Ghana Police Service has alleged in a High Court filing that Deputy Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno instructed him and 10 other officers to ignore an official Police Signal ordering their transfer.

According to Sgt Ojeyim, the directive to disobey came during “Operation D-Day,” an intelligence-gathering assignment reportedly sanctioned by Mr. Yohuno.

Sgt Ojeyim claims that after receiving the transfer order, the Deputy IGP dismissed it as unjustified and instructed them to record their defiance in the station diary.

The officers, now interdicted, await a service inquiry.

The case, which questions the chain of command and discipline within the Police Service, could have significant implications for Deputy IGP Yohuno if the court upholds the allegations.
