The Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations (GFD) has urged President John Mahama to appoint qualified Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) into government positions and across Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies.
In a statement, GFD National President Joseph Atsu Homadzi highlighted the underrepresentation of PWDs in decision-making roles, despite constitutional and legal guarantees of equality.
The GFD emphasized that PWDs possess valuable skills and perspectives that can enhance governance.
Their inclusion would align with Ghana’s commitments under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) and inspire broader societal inclusion.
The GFD reaffirmed its dedication to partnering with the government and other stakeholders to ensure the active participation of PWDs in shaping the nation's future.
