Dispatch rider granted GH¢16,000 bail in fraud case

An Accra Circuit Court has granted bail to a dispatch rider. The bail amount is GH¢16,000 with a surety.

Daniel Ayetey, 38, is accused of defrauding a mechanic. He allegedly pretended to secure a container for rent. Ayetey pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The court session was presided over by Isaac Addo. Ayetey must return on May 14, 2025. The prosecution must comply with disclosure rules before the next hearing.

Police Chief Inspector Josephine Lamptey reported the case details. The complainant, Bright Oduro, is a mechanic from La. In February 2025, he sought to rent a container for his wife.

An agent named Leonard Dunyo introduced Oduro to Ayetey. Ayetey claimed he had a container available for rent. They agreed on a two-year advance rent of GH¢16,000.

Oduro paid Ayetey GH¢11,000 and bought renovation materials worth GH¢8,000. Later, Ayetey’s aunt claimed ownership of the container. She instructed Oduro to stop renovations and provided supporting documents.

Oduro then reported the matter to the police. This led to Ayetey’s arrest and subsequent arraignment.
