Do not forget our roads - Penyi Traditional Authorities to government

The Paramount Chief of the Penyi Traditional Area, Torgbiga Dadzi V, reminded the government about its promise. He emphasized the need for better roads in the Volta Region.

He stated that his area would support any party that builds these roads. Good roads are vital for socioeconomic development.

Torgbiga Dadzi V spoke during a visit from Rev. Martin Amenaki. Rev. Amenaki is the newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive of Ketu North.

He mentioned that chiefs asked President Mahama to prioritize the Ho-Tokor road. The Roads Minister is from Volta Region, so collaboration is essential.

“I will always support any party that constructs the Ho-Torkor road,” he said.

He urged Rev. Amenaki to distribute development projects fairly among traditional areas. However, some areas may need more attention than others.

Torgbiga Dadzi V advised him to work with all stakeholders, especially the MP. This cooperation will help achieve the National Democratic Congress's goals in Ketu North.

He also stressed improving education infrastructure and resources in the municipality. A Technical Vocational School should be established in Penyi to train youth for future jobs.

In health matters, he called on the government to complete a community-funded health center project. He expressed concern over rising drug abuse affecting young people's mental health.

Torgbiga Dadzi V urged intensified efforts against drug abuse and illegal substance trade. He thanked President Mahama for appointing Rev. Amenaki and encouraged him to meet expectations.

“I believe you have what it takes to succeed,” he said. “Your predecessors set a high standard; now it's your turn.”

He advised Rev. Amenaki not just to follow advice blindly but consider what benefits the community most.

Rev. Amenaki praised Torgbiga Dadzi V for his guidance and promised to follow it closely. He aims to ensure Ketu North receives its fair share of government resources.

He announced plans for several road constructions through MP Edem Agbana’s efforts, including Ho-Tokor road improvements.

“We will resume work on Ehi-Dzodze and Ehi-Penyi roads,” he added. These projects were previously halted due to unpaid contractor fees by the last government.
