Do what’s right or never know peace – Annoh-Dompreh warns IGP

Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh is worried about delays in election results. This issue involves the Ablekuma North constituency. He called it unprecedented in Ghana’s political history.

Annoh-Dompreh spoke after leading MPs to petition the Inspector General of Police (IGP). He said, “It’s been six months. I cannot recall any election result taking this long.”

He noted that their approach has been civil and respectful. They chose due process over protests. “We presented a petition to the IGP and will give him time,” he added.

Annoh-Dompreh emphasized respect for the IGP and hopes for mutual respect. He stated they want transparency, not a biased declaration.

“We are not asking for a declaration in our favour,” he explained. “They should declare based on available figures. We believe we won.”

He mentioned that the community made compromises during earlier tensions. They accepted results declared under questionable circumstances.

“We compromised and allowed those results,” he said. “Now, when it goes against them, they say they won’t agree.”
