Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu explained the recent pardon of Sammy Gyamfi. Gyamfi is the Acting CEO of the Gold Board. He received a dollar gift to priestess-turned-evangelist Nana Agradaa.
In an interview on Citi Eyewitness News, Ofosu discussed the situation. The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, managed the matter. He quickly invited Mr. Gyamfi to share his side of the story.
Ofosu stated that it was important to hear from Gyamfi before making any decisions. During their meeting, Gyamfi provided a full explanation and issued a public apology. This apology was taken into account during the discussions.
The Chief of Staff listened to Gyamfi's explanation and considered his apology. Ofosu noted that this showed contrition and recognition of the need for change. Afterward, Debrah briefed President John Dramani Mahama on the situation.
The decision was made to formally caution Mr. Gyamfi as a response. Ofosu explained that this caution aimed to prevent similar incidents in the future.
He added that both the apology and caution were seen as sufficient remedies for this issue. This approach brought closure to the matter at hand, according to Ofosu.
