Hamza Adam has defended NDC National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi. This comes after a petition called for an investigation into a dollar gift he gave to a woman in his car.
Hamza described the controversy as “an exercise in futility.” He believes no law has been broken. He claims the uproar is a targeted effort by the NPP against an opposition figure.
“This gentleman has violated no part of the Foreign Exchange Act,” he stated on Good Morning Ghana, as reported by MyNewsGH. He added that Gyamfi did not break the NDC’s code of conduct either.
Hamza explained that the incident happened in Gyamfi’s private space. He criticized the intrusion, noting that Gyamfi was unaware he was being filmed.
“He was in his car—his private space—and had no idea he was being filmed,” Hamza said. He emphasized that their party values grassroots principles and acknowledged the optics, leading to Gyamfi's public apology.
He also criticized the NPP for its “hypocrisy.” He questioned why similar incidents involving their members did not receive equal outrage or petitions.
Hamza concluded with a message of readiness: “Many more petitions will be filed—ours included.” He stated that future events will reveal who truly seeks accountability versus those seeking revenge disguised as justice.
