The 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate for Adentan, Akosua Manu, known as Kozie, has criticized President John Dramani Mahama. She reacted to Mahama’s decision to exonerate Sammy Gyamfi in the “dollar gift” scandal. Kozie called this move unsurprising and a sign of “selective accountability.”
On May 14, 2025, Kozie spoke on Metro TV. She said Mahama's choice to protect Gyamfi shows how far he will go for his allies. Gyamfi is the acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board. A viral video showed him giving U.S. dollars to evangelist Nana Agradaa.
Kozie pointed out that many people face severe consequences for their actions. “They do not have the luxury of just apologizing,” she stated. However, when it involves someone like Gyamfi, it gets ignored.
She highlighted the irony in Gyamfi's situation. He had previously criticized former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah over large cash sums found at her home. “Why should he get a free pass?” she asked.
President Mahama announced through Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu that he accepted Gyamfi’s apology. He issued a stern warning but decided against further disciplinary action.
