Don’t reduce state institutions to political tools to intimidate opponents – Bawumia to Mahama

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has condemned the use of state security against political opponents.

His comments followed a visit to Rev. Ntim Fordjour's home. On April 9, 2025, personnel from the National Investigative Bureau surrounded the residence.

Dr. Bawumia stated that Ghanaians will not accept lawlessness and fear. He emphasized that democracy relies on due process and the rule of law.

He urged party members to stay calm, steadfast, and law-abiding during this troubling time.

In a social media post, he shared details about his visit to Rev. Fordjour. The MP for Assin South was in good spirits despite the situation.

Dr. Bawumia reiterated his call to President John Dramani Mahama. He urged him to control his security operatives immediately.

State institutions should not be used as political tools for harassment or intimidation. Ghanaians deserve better than this descent into chaos and fear.
