Assin South MP John Ntim Fordjour has criticized President John Dramani Mahama. He accuses the President of threatening Ghana’s democracy. This is due to attempts to remove Chief Justice Gertrude Esaaba Torkornoo.
In a statement on X, Ntim Fordjour said, “Your pursuit of removing the Chief Justice is dangerous for Ghana’s democracy.” He believes this move undermines good governance principles.
Tension is rising over the potential removal of the Chief Justice. Civil society groups, legal practitioners, and opposition figures have condemned this development.
Ntim Fordjour noted that Mahama isn’t the first president to attempt such a move. However, he warned about the long-term effects on constitutional integrity and judicial independence.
He stated, “Let’s not allow this to be added to your infamous achievements. Let’s save our democracy.” His comments reflect broader concerns about the politicization of the judiciary in Ghana.
